Bangladesh chase 57 for maiden Test win on Australian soil

Bangladesh have been set a 57-run target to claim their first-ever Test win against Australia in Australia, after they bowled out the hosts for 284 in the second session on Day 4 of the first Test at the Marrara Stadium in Darwin on Sunday.

Australia managed to add 41 runs after lunch break with Cameron Green completing his third Test ton before Bangladesh removed the final three wickets.

Mehidy Hasan Miraz completed a five-wicket haul, finishing on 5-66 while Hasan Mahmud took 3-56.

Bangladesh now have four-and-half session left to chase the target and claim a historic win. 

Australia resumed the session on 243-7, leading by 15.

Green and Starc stretched the lead to 22 before Taskin removed the latter, getting him caught behind for 18, ending a 43-run stand.

Green, who had a lucky reprieve the day before when the ball ricocheted off his bat and brushed the bails, but they didn’t fall off the stumps, completed a well compiled century off 192 balls.

His stay finally ended on 104 when a Hasan Mahmud delivery kept a tad low, hit the bottom edge of his bat before hitting the stumps.

Miraz then returned to the attack to trap Nathan Lyon (15) LBW to wrap up the Australian innings.
