Starc rises to No.1 in Test bowling rankings after Bangladesh rout

Australia’s Mitchell Starc rose to the top of the ICC Test bowlers’ rankings for the first time in his career following his 10-wicket haul against Bangladesh in the Mackay Test.

Starc jumped two places to replace India’s Jasprit Bumrah at the top. Australia captain Pat Cummins, who took six wickets in that match, also jumped one spot to fourth.

Left-arm spinner Nathan Lyon also rose two spots to 10th.

Bangladesh’s Shoriful Islam, who took 7-48 in the only Australia innings – the best ever figures for a Bangladeshi pacer in Tests – jumped 17 spots to 57th while Mehidy Hasan Miraz rose one spot to 23rd.

Taijul Islam remains Bangladesh’s highest ranked bowler in the list, despite dropping two spots to 13th.

In the batting rankings, Mushfiqur Rahim rose one spot to 17th while skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto remained 20th.

After a hattrick of ducks in the Australia series, Litton Das dropped six spots to 34th.
