Kent 'disappointed' to lose in-form Hasan, confirm his early departure

County Championship club Kent has released a statement, confirming Hasan Mahmud is set to leave the club to attend to national duties, saying they are ‘disappointed’ to lose him and that he ‘will always be welcome back’.

In his very first season in County cricket, Hasan has made quite an impression, taking 26 wickets across four four-day matches at an average of 15.76 – the best among all bowlers who have at least claimed 20 wickets.

In a statement shared on social media, Kent confirmed the development, announcing that the 26-year-old will be unavailable for the last two weeks of their campaign.

“We’re disappointed to have lost Hasan’s services for the County Champions run-in, but we respect the decision made by the BCB after constructive talks, and wish him well this winter,” Kent’s director of cricket Simon Cook was quoted as saying in the statement.

The statement also said that Hasan’s Bangladesh teammate, pacer Khaled Mahmud, will continue with the side for the remainder of the season.  

“He will always be welcome back at Kent,” concluded the statement.

Earlier on Saturday, reports had surfaced that the bowler would be recalled to Bangladesh from England ahead of the Asian Games, which will be followed by a busy cricket calendar.
