Australia name squad for Bangladesh series sans captain Molineux

Cricket Australia (CA) named a 12-member squad for the upcoming three-match Women’s ODI series against Bangladesh sans their injured skipper Sophie Molineux on Wednesday.

Molineux is out with a hip injury, but CA is hopeful she will recover in time for the following T20I series against New Zealand.

In her place, Tahlia McGrath would lead the side in the first-ever bilateral WODI series between Bangladesh and Australia on Australian soil.

"She [Molineux] suffered a hip injury when she got back from The Hundred ... it seemed a fairly innocuous hip injury initially, just unfortunately it didn't progress as quickly as we thought it would up until the weekend," Aussie selector Shawn Flegler said.

"She's now turned a corner but I think it's too tight for the ODI series,” he added. 

The ODI series will begin on October 9 with the second and third ODIs taking place on the 11th and 14th respectively.

All three matches will take place at the Allan Border Field in Brisbane.
