BCB issues security alert after Instagram account targeted by hackers
The Bangladesh Cricket Board's (BCB) official Instagram account was targeted in a hacking attempt on Sunday night and continues to face repeated unauthorised access attempts, the board said in a security alert.
The attack has resulted in unauthorised messages being sent to players, officials and affiliated organisations, containing links to illegal cryptocurrency and betting websites, as well as potential phishing links.
“Please do not click on, open or interact with any links received from the BCB Instagram account until further notice,” the board said in security alert shared on its social media handles.
The BCB also urged recipients to disregard the messages and warned them against sharing “any personal information, passwords or login credentials” through the links.
“The account recovery and security process is ongoing,” the board said, adding that it would issue an update once the account had been fully secured.
Earlier in December 2024, the Bangladesh Football Federation’s (BFF) Facebook page had been hacked.
