West Indies frustrate Bangladesh in wicketless session
Bangladesh bowlers failed to make any inroads after Lunch as West Indies’ Kevin Wickham and Kavem Hodge batted through the session and took the total to 259-2, as the visitors are already ahead by 229 on the fourth day of the second Test at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on Sunday.
Both Hodge and debutant Wickham completed their half-centuries, with the former unbeaten on 93 and the latter on 63 respectively.
The duo has so far accumulated 140 runs for the visitors, who will be hoping to press on the advantage in the final session and take the lead away from Bangladesh’s reach.
Bangladesh tried all five bowlers in the session, but none could really test the West Indian batters.
Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Taijul Islam, who claimed two late wickets in the first session, could do no such thing after the break, while off-spinner Nayeem Hasan, and pacers Tasking Ahmed and Hasan Mahmud remain wicket-less.
Earlier, West Indies went into Lunch on 128-2, having resumed the day’s play on 7-0.
The visitors took little time in the morning to wipe out the 30-run deficit, which Bangladesh gained through a brilliant unbeaten 242 from Towhid Hridoy on the second day.
