HSC exams to continue except for those under Ctg board
The government has decided to continue exams for all Higher Secondary Certificate students except those under the Chattogram Education Board, although local administrators can postpone exams or extend time if the circumstances call for it.
These are among the five student-friendly measures the government has taken to ensure the smooth conduct of the HSC and equivalent examinations, Prime Minister's Adviser on Education and Primary and Mass Education Mahdi Amin said on Wednesday.
In a Facebook post titled "Five student-friendly measures to ensure the smooth conduct of HSC and equivalent examinations," Mahdi Amin wrote HSC and equivalent examinations were held in a spontaneous and peaceful environment at 2,583 examination centres across the country, except under the Chattogram Education Board on Wednesday.
Alongside significant improvements in the weather, students also participated in the examinations with considerable enthusiasm and motivation.
To address the complications in conducting examinations caused by recent adverse weather, the elected government has taken several timely and student-friendly measures.
The first, based on the opinions of divisional commissioners, deputy commissioners, superintendents of police, chairmen of all education boards, officials of the Bangladesh Meteorological Department and other stakeholders regarding the conduct of the HSC and equivalent examinations nationwide, and by giving priority to the interests of the overwhelming majority of students, it has been unanimously decided to continue the examinations across the country, except under the Chattogram Education Board, according to the pre-scheduled timetable.
Secondly, local administrations have been instructed to take any necessary decisions, including changing examination centres, postponing examinations, or extending examination time, if travel disruptions or waterlogging create problems in any area.
Students who were unable to sit for any paper of the ongoing HSC and equivalent examinations due to adverse weather or other unavoidable reasons will be allowed to sit for that paper using the same question paper already postponed by the Chattogram Education Board, on the same date and time to be determined by the Ministry of Education, the third measure said.
Fourth, all examinees will receive full marks for the two erroneous questions in the Physics First Paper examination.
And finally, those responsible for preparing the erroneous Physics First Paper question paper have been temporarily suspended.
Mahdi Amin said the HSC is not merely an examination; it is a crucial turning point in shaping the future of those who will build tomorrow's Bangladesh.
For this reason, the government is making every effort to conduct the examinations with the highest level of sincerity and responsibility.
In this journey, ensuring the welfare of students and the continuity of their education is one of the foremost priorities of the democratic state system, he added.
