HSC re-scrutiny deadline extended until Sunday noon
The deadline to apply for re-scrutiny of 2026 Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent examination results has been extended to noon Sunday after glitches in the online application system.
The Inter-Education Board Examination Controllers Committee announced the extension in an urgent notice on Saturday, after the online system was disrupted from 4pm to 8pm.
Applications for re-scrutiny opened on November 1, a day after the results were published, and were originally due to close at the end of Saturday.
The extra time will allow students affected by the disruption to submit their applications, said Professor Jasmin Taslima Banu, convener of the committee and examination controller of the Dhaka Education Board.
According to education board officials, 278,882 students have so far applied for re-scrutiny of 1,037,717 answer scripts.
The extension comes amid a sharp decline in this year's HSC results, with nearly half of the candidates failing.
Results showed that 646,685 of the 1,240,798 candidates under 11 education boards had passed, recording an overall pass rate of 52.12%.
A total of 40,084 students achieved GPA-5, the highest grade point average.
Students can apply for re-scrutiny through the education boards’ online application portal.
Re-scrutiny involves checking for unmarked answers, errors in mark calculations and mistakes in transferring marks, rather than a fresh evaluation of answer scripts.
