Bappa Mazumder to return with solo concert Moonlit Melodies
Popular singer Bappa Mazumder is set to perform a solo concert titled ‘Moonlit Melodies’ at the Krishibid Institution auditorium in Dhaka on October 9, bringing some of his popular songs to the stage.
The concert is being organised by event management company Mavix Global, which has previously arranged several music shows, including the Gonojowar concert at Hatirjheel Amphitheatre for students.
Bappa shared the concert poster on his Facebook page on September 13, asking his fans to save the date. He is expected to perform well-known tracks including Pori, Baji and Din Bari Jay, among others.
According to Mavix, ticket sales for the concert have not yet begun. Details about ticket prices, purchasing procedures, schedule and other arrangements will be announced soon.
Bappa is the frontman of the band Dalchhut and has also established a solo musical career. While he regularly performs with Dalchhut, his solo shows have been relatively rare.
The singer held a solo concert in 2022, followed by Odyssey in 2024, which was jointly organised by Karkhana Event Management and Blues Communication. At the event, he performed some of his popular songs as well as tracks from the film Satta, for which he composed the music.
Last year, another solo concert by Bappa was held at Yamaha Music Lounge in Tejgaon on July 12. On the same date this year, a special musical evening was organised at Jatrabiriti in Banani, Dhaka, to celebrate his three-decade-long musical career. Although it was not a solo performance, eight young artistes paid tribute to him by performing his songs.
Alongside singing, Bappa is known for his work as a composer and music arranger. Prominent artistes including Fahmida Nabi, Samina Chowdhury, Nancy, Kona, Elita and Konal have lent their voices to songs composed by him.
In films, artistes such as James, Momtaz, Samina Chowdhury, Partha Barua and Kona have performed songs composed by Bappa. Last year, he collaborated with legendary singer Runa Laila on the ghazal-inspired track Onayashe.
Most recently, on August 22, Bappa released Gole Jawa Shomoy, for which he wrote the lyrics, composed the tune and arranged the music.
