Widow’s Bay leads Emmys with 14 wins 

Apple TV’s horror comedy Widow’s Bay led the winners at the 78th Emmy Awards in Los Angeles on September 14, 2026, taking 14 trophies across the Primetime ceremony and the Creative Arts Awards.

Widow’s Bay won best comedy series, while Matthew Rhys took the lead comedy actor award. Rhys also won lead actor in a limited or anthology series or movie for The Beast in Me, making him a double winner on the night. Kate O’Flynn and Stephen Root won supporting acting awards for Widow’s Bay, while creator Katie Dippold won for writing and Hiro Murai for directing.

HBO Max’s medical drama The Pitt was next with seven awards from 25 nominations, the highest nomination tally for any series this year. It won best drama series, with Noah Wyle taking lead drama actor for the second consecutive year.

Apple TV’s Pluribus followed with six wins, including writing for creator Vince Gilligan and lead actress for Rhea Seehorn. The award marked Seehorn’s first Emmy win after she went without a victory throughout Better Call Saul.

In the limited series category, HBO Max’s DTF St. Louis also secured seven wins. David Harbour and Linda Cardellini won supporting acting awards, while creator Steven Conrad won for directing and writing.

Other winners included Allison Janney of The Diplomat, who won supporting actress in a drama series, Sally Field, who won lead actress in a limited or anthology series or movie for Remarkably Bright Creatures, and Tom Pelphrey of Task, who won supporting actor in a drama series.

The ceremony was hosted by Law & Order: SVU star Mariska Hargitay, who presented musical numbers and jokes during the show and appeared in an SVU-inspired sketch with Taylor Swift.
