Rifat Chowdhury admitted to DMCH

Actor and poet Rifat Chowdhury has been admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital with illness and is currently receiving treatment at the Medicine Unit of the hospital’s new building.

According to his family, Rifat has been experiencing weakness, excessive fatigue, shortness of breath, chest pain and insomnia for some time. He is under the supervision of doctors, who are providing treatment for his recovery.

Rifat has acted in more than 500 television dramas during his career, earning recognition for his performances in popular productions including House Full, Aim in Life, Patigonit, 420, Sixty Nine, Bonmanush, Bicycle, Carrom and Murir Tin.

His portrayal of ‘Jatiyo Kaka’ in Sixty Nine brought him widespread recognition among television audiences.

Alongside acting, Rifat has established himself as a poet. He entered the literary world in 1984 with his poem Alingoner Naam. According to reports, 29 of his books have been published so far.

Despite his illness, Rifat hopes to return to acting and writing poetry. His well-wishers have sought the support and prayers of his colleagues, friends and members of the arts and literary communities for his recovery.
