Sabyasachi Chakraborty to return to Satyajit Ray’s stories

Veteran Bengali actor Sabyasachi Chakraborty is set to return to the screen in a new project based on selected short stories by Satyajit Ray, with Ray’s son Sandip Ray directing the work.

According to reports in the Indian media, Chakraborty will play an important character in the upcoming project, which will feature adaptations of selected short stories by the celebrated filmmaker and writer.

Chakraborty earned a special place among audiences for his portrayal of Satyajit Ray’s iconic detective character Feluda, following Soumitra Chatterjee in the role. He eventually stepped away from the character due to his age.

Sandip Ray has previously directed several series based on his father’s short stories, including Satyajiter Priyo Golpo and Satyajiter Goppo, both of which received popularity among viewers.

The new project will continue in a similar vein, bringing more of Satyajit Ray’s selected stories to the screen.

However, it has not yet been finalised whether the project is being made for television or another medium. The specific Satyajit Ray story featuring Chakraborty has also not been officially announced.

According to sources, filming could begin towards the end of this year if everything proceeds as planned.

Chakraborty was most recently seen in a new episode of the serial Achintya Aich, where he played a lawyer opposite Ritwick Chakraborty.
