T-Series chief becomes Bollywood’s wealthiest man, surpasses the Khans
T-Series managing director Bhushan Kumar has emerged as Bollywood’s richest man with an estimated net worth of ₹36,300 crore, according to the Hurun India Rich List 2026, with his fortune exceeding the combined estimated wealth of Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan and Aamir Khan.
The Hurun India Rich List 2026, released last week, places Kumar at number 87 among India’s wealthiest individuals, making him the only person from the entertainment industry to feature in the top 100. His reported fortune of around ₹36,300 crore, equivalent to approximately $3.8 billion, also puts him ahead of several prominent Indian entrepreneurs, including Atul Ruia, Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw and Aditya Khemka.
Kumar has also taken over the position of India’s richest filmmaker from Kalanithi Maran of Sun Pictures, who ranks 146th on the list with an estimated ₹24,600 crore fortune. He has also surpassed former Bollywood wealth leader Ronnie Screwvala, whose reported net worth is around ₹16,000 crore.
The scale of Kumar’s wealth has grown considerably in recent years. The 2024 Hurun Rich List estimated the fortune of Kumar and his family at around ₹10,500 crore. The latest figure represents a roughly 3.5-fold increase over two years.
The growth coincides with T-Series’ expansion across music and film production. In 2026, three T-Series theatrical releases have collectively earned almost ₹700 crore at the box office.
Kumar is the managing director of Super Cassettes Limited, popularly known as T-Series. The company was established by his father, Gulshan Kumar, in 1983. Following Gulshan Kumar’s death in 1997, Bhushan Kumar took control of the company alongside his uncle, former actor Krishan Kumar, at the age of 19.
Under Kumar’s leadership, T-Series expanded from a record label into film distribution and production. By the early 2020s, the company was producing more than 20 Hindi films a year, although its production output was later scaled down.
T-Series has also grown into a major digital platform. The company’s YouTube channel has more than 300 million subscribers, making it the second-largest channel in the world. As of August 2026, it was also the most-viewed channel globally, with more than 353 billion views.
The record label accounts for 35% of the Indian music market, according to the report.
Kumar’s reported ₹36,300 crore fortune also places him well ahead of Bollywood’s wealthiest actor, Shah Rukh Khan, whose estimated net worth is around ₹9,500 crore. The combined estimated wealth of Shah Rukh, Salman Khan and Aamir Khan stands at around ₹15,000 crore, less than half of Kumar’s reported fortune.
