Chanchal Chowdhury’s mysterious first look unveiled in Chaalchitro: The Ekchala Murders

Chanchal Chowdhury’s first look in the upcoming Hoichoi web series Chaalchitro: The Ekchala Murders has been unveiled ahead of its December premiere, offering the first glimpse of his mysterious character in filmmaker Pratim D Gupta’s cop universe.

The first-look image shows Chanchal staring intensely at someone, with visible bruises on his face. The actor had earlier confirmed his involvement in the project but remained tight-lipped about his character.

Chaalchitro: The Ekchala Murders will premiere on Hoichoi in December as part of the platform’s Season 10 line-up. The series will serve as a prequel to the 2024 film Chaalchitro: The Frame Fatale.

The original cast will also return, with Tota Roy Chowdhury reprising his role as Kanishka Chatterjee and Anirban Chakrabarti returning as Naseer Rehman.

Reflecting on his return to the world of ‘Chaalchitro’, director Pratim D Gupta described the project as a homecoming.

“For the first time in 14 years, I am returning to a world I’d created before. Chaalchitro: The Ekchala Murders is a homecoming of sorts, a prequel to Chaalchitro: The Frame Fatale, the underdog which became a big winner in 2024-25 and received so much love from all of you,” he wrote on social media.

He added that the prequel would revisit Kanishka and Naseer and explore the origins of the story and characters.

“To revisit the characters of Kanishka and Naseer, to re-enter this universe and sculpt the origin story that began it all is an emotion I find difficult to put into words. It’s coming in December, and I’m hoping you’ll shower it with even more love,” Gupta wrote.
