Pritom Hasan, Shahtaj Monira Hashem announce divorce after four years of marriage

Musician and actor Pritom Hasan and actress-model Shahtaj Monira Hashem have announced their decision to end their marriage, saying they are moving towards divorce after realising they are better off apart due to a lack of mutual understanding.

Shahtaj announced the decision in a Facebook post on Sunday, saying the couple had “mutually and amicably” decided to end their marriage after four years together.

“While we are grateful for the memories we shared and still care for each other, we realised over time that we are simply better off separate ways due to lack of mutual understanding,” she wrote.

Shahtaj said the decision followed much thoughtful consideration and that, with the support of their families, they are moving forward with a divorce.

The couple married in an intimate ceremony at a five-star hotel in Sreemangal on October 28, 2022, after keeping their relationship private for around five years. Their wedding was attended by close friends and family members.

Pritom and Shahtaj first met while working on the music video for Pritom’s song Jadukor. Their friendship later developed into a relationship, which they kept away from public attention for several years.

In her statement, Shahtaj requested friends, colleagues and members of the media to respect their privacy during the transition.

“We kindly ask our friends, colleagues, and the media for privacy and grace during this transition so we can navigate this next chapter. Thank you for your understanding and support,” she wrote.

The announcement marks the end of a four-year marriage between the two performers, who had largely kept their relationship away from the public eye before their wedding.
