Taylor Swift’s Patient Zero tops Billboard global charts
Taylor Swift’s Patient Zero has debuted at No. 1 on both the Billboard Global 200 and Billboard Global Excl. US charts, following the release of the deluxe edition of her 2025 album The Life of a Showgirl.
The song becomes Swift’s eighth Global 200 No. 1, tying her with BTS for the most leaders since the chart was launched in September 2020. It also gives her a fifth No. 1 on the Global Excl. US chart, breaking her tie with Bad Bunny and Ariana Grande for the most among soloists. BTS leads all acts with eight.
Patient Zero is one of four new songs featured on the deluxe edition, The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore, which was released on September 25. The other new tracks, Cleveland!, Babylon and Pink Clouding, also entered the top 10 of both global charts.
According to Luminate, Patient Zero recorded 70.7 million streams and 80,000 sales globally between September 25 and October 1. The song’s Swift-directed music video, starring Swift, Dakota Johnson and Colin Farrell, premiered on September 27 during the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards.
Cleveland! debuted at No. 2 on the Global 200 with 37.3 million streams, followed by Babylon at No. 3 with 36.3 million and Pink Clouding at No. 5 with 36 million.
With the four new entries, Swift has extended her record to 47 Global 200 top 10s, moving ahead of Drake’s 45.
Her The Fate of Ophelia also returned to the Global 200 top 10, climbing from No. 14 to No. 8 with 29.8 million streams, an increase of 27 percent. The song, released on the original version of The Life of a Showgirl, previously spent seven weeks at No. 1 between October and February.
On the Global Excl. US chart, Patient Zero recorded 37.3 million streams and 15,000 sales outside the US during the tracking week. Cleveland! debuted at No. 6, Pink Clouding at No. 7 and Babylon at No. 8.
Swift now has 34 top 10s on the Global Excl. US chart, extending her record ahead of Bad Bunny, who has 24. The Fate of Ophelia also rose from No. 13 to No. 10 after spending eight weeks at No. 1 between October and February.
Elsewhere, Karol G, Judeline and rusowsky’s BbY WOW fell to No. 3 on the Global 200 and No. 2 on the Global Excl. US chart after spending four weeks at No. 1 on both rankings.
On the Global Excl. US top five, Dua Lipa’s Training Season dropped to No. 3, while ADÉLA’s Nicole Kidman rose to a new high of No. 4 and Ain’t in LA fell to No. 5.
The Billboard Global 200 and Billboard Global Excl. US charts rank songs using streaming and sales data from more than 200 territories worldwide, compiled by Luminate. The Global 200 includes worldwide data, while the Global Excl. US chart covers territories outside the US.
The charts use a weighted formula based on official streams from subscription and ad-supported audio and video services, as well as download sales from full-service digital music retailers. Direct-to-consumer sales are excluded from the calculations.
The latest charts are dated October 10, 2026 and are scheduled to update on Billboard.com on October 6.
