Brazil will begin their FIFA World Cup 2026 knockout campaign against Japan after the Asian side secured second place in Group F following a 1-1 draw with Sweden on Friday.

The match was confirmed after Japan finished second in Group F behind the Netherlands, who won 3-1 against Tunisia on the same day.

Earlier, Brazil had topped Group C after securing two 3-0 wins over Haiti and Scotland and a 1-1 draw against Morocco in the group stage.

Morocco, who finished second in Group C, will meet the Dutch in Round of 32.

Brazil and Japan will face off in the Round of 32 in Houston on June 29 at 11:00 PM Bangladesh Time.

The two sides last faced each other in a friendly in October 2025, where Japan secured a 3-2 victory over Brazil.

It was Japan’s first win against Brazil in 14 meetings between the teams.
