Bangladesh Women's Football League champions Rajshahi Stars FC suffered a 4-0 defeat to India's East Bengal FC in their AFC Women's Champions League preliminary-round Group A opener in Malaysia on Monday.

Olivia Anokye completed a brace while Rimba Haldar and Soumya Guguloth scored once while the Bangladeshi outfits, composed of mostly national team stars, failed to breach the East Bengal goal even once.

East Bengal dominated early, scoring three goals in the first 38 minutes. Anokye opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the ninth minute, beating goalkeeper Rupna Chakma.

Rimpa doubled the lead in the 26th minute. Twelve minutes later, Haldar set up Sulanjana Raul, who squared for Anokye to complete her brace.

Rajshahi improved after the break but created few chances. Monika Chakma's long-range effort was saved by East Bengal goalkeeper Elangbam Panthoi.

East Bengal added a fourth in the 72nd minute, Raul releasing Soumya, who finished calmly to complete the rout.

Rajshahi Stars next face Sabah FA on August 20.

Golam Rabbani Choton's side now face an uphill task to reach the 12-team final round, with only group winners advancing.
