Bangladesh football team head coach Thomas Dooley has dropped six players from the preliminary squad for the forthcoming FIFA ASEAN Cup on Thursday.

National team manager Amirul Islam Babu confirmed the development to the media, and said that one more player will be dropped after the training session.

“With time, preliminary sides get smaller. Following that usual process, the coach has dropped Yasir Tahmid Hasan, Debojit Sarka, Isa Faisal, Quazem Shah, Taj Uddin and Rahul [Rabbi Hasan]. Another player will be dropped after training,” Amirul said.

“He hasn’t yet informed how many players he will take to Indonesia,” he added.

Of the six, Yasir and Debojit were overseas players who had joined the camp on trial.

The American-German coach had called up 28 players from the Bangladesh Football League (BFL) for the camp, and some overseas players had joined on trial.

The camp has been running for close to two weeks and the players also played a practice match against Fortis FC.

Bangladesh will leave for Indonesia on September 19.

They will begin their campaign against Malaysia on September 25.
