Chelsea's Pedro named Premier League Player of the Month for August

Updated on

Joao Pedro has been named the EA Sports Premier League Player of the Month for August 2026, ending a two-year wait for Chelsea to produce a winner since Cole Palmer claimed the honour in September 2024.

The Brazil forward saw off Palmer and six other contenders after a devastating opening to the campaign, having a hand in four goals across Chelsea's first two league fixtures of the season.

He needed just 33 seconds to open the scoring at Fulham, later teeing up Palmer for the winning goal in that match. He then produced an identical double act against Brighton, scoring himself before laying on the decisive strike for Palmer once more.

The award represents Pedro's first individual Premier League recognition since arriving at Stamford Bridge, rounding off a scorching start to his second season in England.

For Pedro, this recognition comes just months after he was left out of Brazil's FIFA World Cup 2026 squad, where the five-time champions were knocked out in the Round of 16.

Chelsea head into the coming weeks buoyed by the striker's early-season form, with manager Enzo Maresca likely to lean heavily on the Brazilian's link-up play with Palmer as the fixtures pile up.
