Dengue claims 3 more lives, 580 hospitalised in 24hrs
Bangladesh recorded 580 new dengue cases and three more deaths in the 24 hours ending Monday morning, taking the death toll this year to 59, health officials said.
According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), of the new patients, 125 were admitted to hospitals in Dhaka division, 81 in Barishal division, 79 in Chattogram division, 78 in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC), 67 in Khulna division, 59 in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC), 36 in Mymensingh division, 31 in Rangpur division, 22 in Rajshahi division and two in Sylhet division.
With the latest figures, the total number of dengue cases this year has risen to 16,684.
Last year, dengue claimed 413 lives and infected 102,861 people across the country.
In 2024, the mosquito-borne disease killed 575 people and infected 101,214 others.
