10 die of dengue, 1,996 hospitalised overnight

Health officials today said they recorded 1,966 fresh cases of dengue onslaughts killing at least 10 persons in the last 24 hours.

“Out of 1,966, 203 patients were hospitalised in Barishal division, 242 in Chattogram division, 480 in Dhaka division, 187 in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) and 194 in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) areas, 302 in Khulna division, 96 in Mymensingh division, 199 in Rajshahi division, 75 in Rangpur division and 18 Sylhet division, a Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) statement said.

Since the start of the dengue onslaughts, Bangladesh this year witnessed so far 281 deaths while the disease inflicted 90,356.

The dengue last year claimed 413 lives and inflicted 1,02,861 people in the country.

Besides, the dengue claimed 575 lives and inflicted 1,01,214 people in 2024.
