4 die of dengue, 2,167 hospitalised overnight

 Health officials today said they recorded 2,167 fresh cases of dengue onslaughts killing at least four persons in the last 24 hours.

"Out of 2,167, 243 patients were hospitalised in Barishal division, 287 in Chattogram division, 484 in Dhaka division, 247 in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) and 140 in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) areas, 298 in Khulna division, 102 in Mymensingh division, 253 in Rajshahi division, 92 in Rangpur division and 21 Sylhet division, a Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) statement said.

Since the start of the dengue onslaughts, Bangladesh this year witnessed so far 307 deaths while the disease inflicted 101,442.

The dengue last year claimed 413 lives and inflicted 1,02,861 people in the country.

Besides, the dengue claimed 575 lives and inflicted 1,01,214 people in 2024.
