Jaglul Pasha sent to jail in Khaleda Zia rally obstruction case
A court in Dhaka today sent former joint secretary Syed Jaglul Pasha to jail in a case filed over allegations that he obstructed former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia from joining a political rally by placing sand-laden trucks in front of her Gulshan residence on December 29, 2013 and spraying pepper spray.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Ripon Hossain passed the order after police produced Pasha before the court following the completion of his seven-day remand. Police sought his detention in jail until the investigation into the case is completed.
Earlier on August 6, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Didarul Alam had placed Pasha on a seven-day remand in the case.
The Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police arrested Pasha from his residence in the capital’s Bashundhara area at around 1:30am on August 5.
Shariful Islam Shaon, a former leader of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal, filed the case with Gulshan Police Station on October 4, 2024.
