Banned Jubo Mohila League leader arrested in Narsingdi

Police have arrested Mahia Moni alias Moni, 42, joint convener of the Narsingdi district unit of the banned Awami Jubo Mohila League, from the Shiksha Chattar area of Narsingdi Sadar upazila.

She was arrested on Saturday night, Narsingdi Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) A.R.M. Mamun confirmed.

Mahia Moni is a resident of Srishtighar village in Shibpur upazila. Her father is Mujibur Rahman, mother Rokeya Rahman and husband Zainal Bhuiyan.

Police said she is accused in a case filed with Jatrabari Police Station in Dhaka on September 20, 2024, under Sections 302, 201 and 34 of the Penal Code. The FIR number is 54, and the GR number is 840.

She is also accused in another case filed at Shibpur Model Police Station on February 1, 2019.

Police said they arrested her as part of a special drive. She is scheduled to be produced before a court on Sunday afternoon and sent to jail.
