Jamaat announces 50 lakh taka donation to restore Radda health centre

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has announced a donation of 50 lakh taka to help restore the Radda MCH-FP Centre in Mirpur, Dhaka, which was damaged in an attack involving vandalism and looting.

Jamaat Ameer Dr Shafiqur Rahman, also the Leader of the Opposition, made the announcement on Monday after visiting the damaged health centre.

“Our initial commitment to provide assistance will continue, InshaAllah. This is just the beginning, not the end,” he said.

He said the party will do more if needed for the healthcare of the people.

Expressing concern over the attack, vandalism and looting at the health centre, the Jamaat chief said, “No one would have the courage to commit such a major wrongdoing without the shelter and patronage of the ruling party.”

He said the perpetrators, whoever they may be, should be brought to justice.

Expressing concern over the deteriorating law and order situation in the country, he said, “The government must take immediate steps to ensure that no miscreant can commit any anti-social or criminal activity anywhere in the country.”

He further alleged that “mob violence is taking place across the country under the shelter and patronage of the ruling party.”

He also called for legal action against those involved in the Radda incident and urged the authorities to take steps to reopen the health centre in full swing.
