The BNP has reconstituted the convening committee of its Dhaka Metropolitan South unit, appointing Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Administrator Abdus Salam as its new convener, replacing Rafiqul Alam Majnu.

The party announced the changes in a press release issued from its central office on Sunday morning. The release, signed by Assistant Office Secretary Muhammad Munir Hossain, named four office-bearers of the reconstituted committee.

Abdul Kader Bhuiyan Jewel has been appointed senior joint convener, while A N M Saiful Islam has retained his position as joint convener. Tanvir Ahmed Robin has also retained his position as member secretary.

On December 8, 2024, the BNP had approved a 61-member convening committee for the Dhaka South unit, with Majnu as convener and Robin as member secretary. The committee comprised 13 joint conveners and 46 members.

Earlier, on July 7, 2024, the party announced a two-member partial committee, retaining Majnu as convener and Robin as member secretary. Before that, on June 13, the previous convening committee, led by Abdus Salam as convener and Majnu as member secretary, was dissolved.

With the latest announcement, Salam has returned to the leadership of the Dhaka South unit.

Meanwhile, on November 1, the BNP announced a new partial committee for its Dhaka Metropolitan North unit, naming Dhaka North City Corporation Administrator Shafiqul Islam Khan Milton as convener and Dhaka-18 MP S M Jahangir Hossain as member secretary.

The party dissolved the previous North unit convening committee, led by Aminul Haque as convener and Mostafa Zaman as member secretary.

With the latest reshuffle, the administrators of both Dhaka city corporations are now leading the BNP's metropolitan units in the capital.
