NCP delegation meets Nepal’s post-uprising ruling party leader in South Korea

Updated on:

A delegation of the National Citizen Party (NCP), led by former interim government adviser Asif Mahmud Sajeeb Bhuiyan, has met with a senior leader of Nepal’s Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), which came to power following the country’s 2025 uprising.

Asif shared the development in a Facebook post on Sunday, saying he had discussed experiences with RSP General Secretary Bipin Kumar Acharya.

“Following Nepal’s mass uprising, I was discussing experiences with Bipin Kumar Acharya, general secretary of the RSP, the political party that took responsibility afterwards,” Asif wrote.

He added that the challenges faced by new political parties around the world were largely similar.

The NCP delegation includes Asif, former coordinator of the Students Against Discrimination (SAD), NCP leader Monira Sharmin and Alauddin Mohammad.

They are currently visiting South Korea to attend the 13th General Assembly of the International Conference of Asian Political Parties (ICAPP).

The RSP emerged as Nepal’s governing party following the 2026 general election, securing 182 of the 275 seats in the House of Representatives. The party rose to power in the aftermath of the mass uprising in Nepal in 2025.
