Imranur bows out in 100m semifinal in Asian Games

Bangladesh's fastest man Imranur Rahman bowed out of the men's 100m at the Asian Games 2026 after finishing seventh in the first semifinal heat on Friday.

Imranur clocked 10.44 seconds, improving slightly on his 10.49-second effort in Thursday's first round, where he finished 22nd among the 24 athletes who advanced to the semifinals.

Despite the improvement, Imranur described the race as one of his worst of the year, saying his performance should be viewed in the context of his return from a two-year injury layoff.

Imranur was well off his personal best of 10.11 seconds and his season’s best of 10.24 seconds.

He said athletes cannot produce their best time in every race but was relieved that the injury had not worsened.

Imranur said he would review the race, identify his mistakes and work to return stronger.

His semifinal appearance marked another step in his comeback, although he  could not advance to the final.
