PM encourages youth innovator behind homemade go-kart

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Saturday praised and encouraged a young innovator who built a go-kart using locally available technology, assuring him of future support to develop a more advanced version.

The young inventor, Rizwan Rashid, met the Prime Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office in Tejgaon on Saturday afternoon, where he showcased the self-made vehicle. The Prime Minister observed the go-kart with keen interest and even took it for a drive.

Rizwan expressed his excitement at the gesture, saying he had never imagined that the Prime Minister would personally drive a vehicle he built. He added that the experience had deeply inspired him. The young innovator also noted that he drove the go-kart from Mohammadpur to the Prime Minister’s Office.

The initiative first came to the Prime Minister’s attention after it went viral on social media. Following this, Additional Press Secretary Atiqur Rahman Rumon was tasked with looking into the matter.

During the meeting, Rizwan shared his journey of building the go-kart. He said he was inspired by his father, a diploma engineer currently working in the mechanical department of the Ministry of Education.

After completing his HSC examinations in 2025, Rizwan decided to use his free time productively. Although his family had purchased a motorcycle for him, his passion for cars and financial limitations led him to build the go-kart on his own.

After experiencing the vehicle firsthand, the Prime Minister commended Rizwan’s creativity and initiative. He emphasized that more young people in the country should engage in such innovative and productive activities.
