‘I've ended eight wars... nobody has ever done it’: Trump laments Nobel Peace Prize snub

US President Donald Trump said he has not received a Nobel Peace Prize despite what he described as major diplomatic achievements, while using his Independence Day address to condemn communism and highlight his administration's priorities.

Speaking during celebrations marking the 250th anniversary of American independence, Trump pointed to his foreign policy record and ongoing international efforts.

"I've settled eight wars, still no Nobel," he told supporters, according to media reports.

“Americans have won the most Olympic medals of any country in the world, by far the most Nobel Prizes,” he said, before adding, “Well, they haven’t given me one.”

Trump has frequently made similar claims about resolving conflicts, although critics dispute the extent of those achievements.

The president also used the speech to denounce communism, portraying it as a threat to American values and freedoms.

"Communism is a loser, and it always will be. The communist system is the opposite of the American system, and the communist system has never worked," Trump said.

"We like to stop a threat like that immediately, and before it begins, it's like a cancer, you got to cut it out, you got to cut it out fast."

He added, "Won't happen, and all these talks from the communists, they haven't got a chance, not even a chance. We don't want communists in our country — never worked, and it never will work."

Listing constitutional rights, Trump said, "Unlike so many others in the world, in this country we have freedom of speech, freedom of religion, equal justice under the law."

He continued, "You showed that tonight with one flag, and as our Declaration of Independence tells us, we are all made in the image of one almighty God, and a communist will never say that, that’s for sure."

Trump later made a brief reference to his legal battles while discussing equal justice under the law.

“After 250 years, unlike so many others in the world, in this country we have freedom of speech, freedom of religion, equal justice under the law — although I wasn’t treated that well, but we won’t get into that,” he said.

The president also promoted his policy agenda, including voting reforms under the Save America Act, efforts to end birthright citizenship and protections for the Second Amendment.

"The American dream is back," Trump told the crowd, adding that the military and police forces were receiving so many recruits that it had become "hard" to get jobs in those sectors.

The Fourth of July celebrations marked the semiquincentennial anniversary of the 1776 Declaration of Independence, which ended British rule over the 13 original American colonies.
