Three dead in Idaho shopping center shooting

Three people died after a gunman opened fire in a shopping area in ​Twin Falls, Idaho, on Saturday, according to ‌a city spokesman.

Twin Falls Police Chief Matthew Hicks told reporters the shooter was dead and the threat ​to the community was over.

An active shooter incident was reported at around 2:30 p.m. local time (2030 GMT) near an In-N-Out Burger restaurant in a busy commercial area in Twin Falls, Idaho, prompting a major police response.

About an hour later, city Public Information Coordinator Josh Palmer told Reuters that authorities had determined the shooter was no longer a threat. The Twin Falls Police Department also closed roads and a nearby bridge immediately after the shooting was reported.

During a press conference, Police Chief Craig Hicks said the suspected gunman was among the dead but did not confirm the exact death toll. Palmer later told Reuters that three people, including the shooter, were killed and at least two others were injured.

Police are working to identify the gunman and determine a motive for the attack. Twin Falls, with a population of about 47,400, is located in Idaho's Magic Valley region.
