State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Aninda Islam Amit on Friday said the government does not consider whether people voted for it when implementing development projects, adding that it is carrying out development activities equally across all regions in line with its election manifesto.

"The current government does not consider who voted for it and who did not when implementing development projects," he said while inaugurating the renovation and widening of a four-kilometre stretch of the Chanchra-Rajganj GC Road in Jashore Sadar upazila.

Amit said the BNP had received comparatively fewer votes in Chanchra Union in the last general election. "Despite that, because of the government's people-oriented policies, the first road development project in the area has begun," he said.

The project involves the renovation and widening of the four-kilometre road at a cost of 3.74 crore taka, according to the Local Government Engineering Department (LGED). It is being implemented under the Rural Road Repair and Maintenance Programme.

Recalling his commitment before the national election, Amit said he had promised to renovate the road and was now fulfilling that pledge.

He also said the first Family Card distribution programme in Jashore was launched in Chanchra Union.

The state minister further noted that the 500-bed Jashore Medical College Hospital, recently inaugurated by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, is also located in Chanchra Union.

Amit said the government was working above party politics, prioritising the protection of people's basic rights and the improvement of local infrastructure.

Among others, Jashore District BNP President Syed Saberul Haque Sabu, Jashore Zila Parishad Administrator Delwar Hossain Khokon, Deputy Director of the Local Government Division and Administrator of Jashore Municipality Rafiqul Hasan, and Chanchra Union BNP President Rezaul Karim attended the programme.
