Garment factory catches fire in Gazipur

A fire broke out at a garment factory on the third floor of an eight-storey building at Degir Chala in Fakir Market area of Gazipur on Saturday afternoon.

The fire originated around 2:44pm at Matrix Garments, said Talha Bin Zashim, station officer of the Fire Service and Civil Defence (FSCD) headquarters media cell.

The FSCD received the report of the fire at 2:45pm and the first firefighting units left for the spot immediately, he said.

A total of five units from Gazipur Chowrasta Modern Fire Station, Konabari Fire Station and Gazipur Fire Station are working to bring the blaze under control.

The cause of the fire was not known immediately.
