The “March for Insaf (Justice)”, a programme launched by cultural platform Inqilab Moncho, reached Dhaka on Friday, the 17th day of the march that began in Panchagarh on October 7.

The marchers arrived at Shahbagh around 4pm and later visited the grave of the platform’s founder and slain student leader Sharif Osman Hadi.

The programme concluded with a street rally at Shahbagh.

Inqilab Moncho Member Secretary Fatima Tasnim Zuma said several participants, including herself, had fallen ill after the long walk.

“We walked nearly 27 kilometres today with hardly any breaks,” she wrote in a Facebook post.

Inqilab Moncho launched the march demanding justice for Hadi’s killing, implementation of the July National Charter, and justice for the July, Shapla and Pilkhana massacres.

The march is scheduled to conclude in Teknaf, at the country’s southernmost tip, with a grand rally also expected to be held at Shahbagh in Dhaka.

Earlier, the platform, in a Faceook post, said its member Mohammad Tamim had been admitted to Aurora Specialized Hospital in Kakrail, Dhaka, after falling ill following a long walk during the programme.
