Electricity supply in parts of Dhaka and Chattogram resumed on Tuesday after a technical fault in the national grid was resolved.
The power disruption lasted from 12:43 pm to 1:40 pm, Md Nahid Hasan, public relations officer of the Power Grid Company of Bangladesh (PGCB), told BSS.
He said the unexpected outage affected Bhulta, Haripur, Siddhirganj, Gulshan, Rampura, Motijheel, the Bangladesh Secretariat and adjoining areas, as well as parts of Chattogram.
“Our experts are working to ensure a smooth power supply across the affected grid areas,” he said.
Talking to journalists, Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) Chairman Rezaul Karim said a trip on the Meghnaghat-Haripur national grid line had triggered the disruption, affecting the Bangladesh Secretariat and surrounding areas, as well as parts of Chattogram, for about an hour.
“Our experts were engaged immediately after the technical fault was detected to restore the system,” he said.
Power Grid Bangladesh PLC said today that engineers were working to gradually restore electricity connections and bring power supply back to normal.
Earlier, the company, in a statement, said engineers were restoring connections in phases to normalise electricity supply.
