India took 12 Tests across three series and 30 years for their first win in Australia. Pakistan needed seven Tests over three series and 12 years.

Sri Lanka have never beaten Australia at home despite playing 15 Tests across seven series there.

Bangladesh had toured Australia only once before, in 2003, losing both Tests by an innings before waiting 23 years for their next chance.

Bangladesh is overall jointly second fastest to win a Test in Australia, tied with South Africa, who also took three attempts. England are the fastest, winning in their second Test in Australia.

Hasan Mahmud's six-wicket haul on Day one bowled Australia out for 198, before Tanzid Hasan Tamim's maiden Test century helped Bangladesh post 426 and take a 228-run lead.

Mehidy Hasan Miraz's five-wicket haul in the second innings, despite Cameron Green's century, left Australia needing to defend just 57, which Bangladesh chased down inside 15 overs.

India have won 10 of 57 Tests in Australia, and Pakistan four of 40, meaning Bangladesh's overall record still trails both sides significantly.

The result guarantees Bangladesh cannot lose the two-match series, with the second Test starting in Mackay on August 22.
