Bangladesh pacer Nahid Rana has attracted interest from several franchises in Australia’s Big Bash League (BBL), however, scheduling conflicts raise doubts over his participation, according to multiple outlets.
Online-based sports news outlet The Stadium first broke the news, reporting that Rana has received offers from Adelaide Strikers and a Melbourne-based franchise.
The next edition of the BBL is set to begin on December 12, 2026, to January 26, 2027. The national team is set to tour South Africa for a three-format series in November-December and talks are underway for a white-ball series against India in early January.
The speedster is still recovering from a Grade 2 left-side strain, which ruled him out of Bangladesh’s tour of Australia last month.
Rana is also set to miss the Asian Games 2026 and is planning to return with the series against Afghanistan in October.
The 23-year-old has attracted global attention with his raw pace and has already plied his trade in overseas franchise leagues – playing for Peshawar Zalmi in the previous edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
He took a four-wicket haul against Australia in a home ODI series in June earlier this year, helping the Tigers notch their first win in the 50-over format against the opponents in 21 years.
Till now, only two players from Bangladesh have featured in the BBL – Shakib Al Hasan and Rishad Hossain.
