Bangladesh pace duo Hasan Mahmud and Khaled Ahmed shared seven wickets in their first outing together for Kent in the County Championship against Derbyshire in Derby on Tuesday.

Hasan took four while Khaled struck thrice to bundle out Derbyshire for 300 on Day 1 of the four-day game.

After the day’s play, Hasan shared how special it was to have his Bangladesh teammate alongside him in England.

“It was obviously good to have Khaled with me as a bowling partner and I’m very happy for him,” Hasan said.

“In his first game [for Kent] he’s taken three and I hope it goes well for him in the next innings,” he added.

Hasan had already made a splash in his debut season at the County, having taken 23 wickets so far at an average of 16.43 – the best among bowlers with at least 20 wickets.

The 26-year-old, who joined Kent in June, had credited his experience bowling with the red ball in England after taking a nine-wicket haul in Darwin to help Bangladesh clinch a historic Test win over the Aussies in August.

Now he has returned to Kent, alongside Khaled, who has also hit the ground running.

“People in Bangladesh are very happy that two guys are playing for Kent and especially after [what happened] in Australia too so it’s very special for us,” Hasan said.
