Uncapped off-spinner Aliss Al Islam has been drafted into the Bangladesh squad for the Asian Games 2026, replacing injured all-rounder Mohammad Saifuddin, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announced through a media release on Wednesday.

Saifuddin recently suffered a hamstring injury, which has put him on the shelf for a few weeks, making him unavailable for the Asian Games, where Bangladesh will begin their campaign on September 28.

Aliss, a mystery spinner who recently played for the Bangladesh ‘A’ team in the ODI series in South Africa, had been called to replace the pace-bowling all-rounder.

The 29-year-old spinner has been a regular face in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) for a few seasons. But injury troubles and questions over his action has stagnated his journey to the national side.

Aliss’ could finally receive the green and red cap at the Asian Games in Nagoya, Japan where the Tigers are aiming for a gold medal.
