Drummer and music producer Adnan Rushdi suffered a heart attack on Sunday, a day after his wife, Shirin Sultana, died of dengue, with the musician now receiving treatment at the Coronary Care Unit (CCU) of Bangladesh Medical University.
Shirin died on Saturday after contracting dengue. The couple have a young son.
Rushdi has played drums with Bangla Five for many years and has also performed with several prominent Bangladeshi bands, including Chirkutt.
Chirkutt expressed deep sorrow over the tragedy in a Facebook post.
“Rushdi bhai played drums in our band for some time and was our fellow member around 2005–06. He never stopped being a well-wisher of ours,” the band said.
The band said Rushdi’s wife had died suddenly after contracting dengue and offered prayers following her death.
“Today, Rushdi bhai suffered a heart attack and was admitted to hospital. They have a young son. We are deeply saddened and at a loss for words over the entire situation,” Chirkutt added.
The band prayed for strength for Rushdi and his family during the difficult time and wished him a speedy recovery.
