Popular television actress Tania Brishty is preparing to return to shooting this month after taking a nine-month break from acting while undergoing treatment for a brain tumour.

Tania fell ill in February and was diagnosed with a brain tumour. She underwent surgery that month to remove the tumour before travelling to Chennai, India, on March 9 for further treatment, where she underwent another surgery.

She returned to Bangladesh in the first week of April and has since been undergoing treatment and taking rest.

With her condition improving, Tania spoke about her health and ongoing treatment during a Facebook Live session on Saturday afternoon, saying she is doing considerably better than before.

“I am currently undergoing chemotherapy. Three months of the six-month course have been completed, and I am now in the fourth month. After another two months, I will undergo some tests. The doctor will then determine the next course of treatment,” she said.

Despite continuing her treatment, Tania said she hopes to resume shooting this month.

“I want to. I would like to start shooting from this month. Discussions are under way. Once I start shooting, I will definitely let everyone know,” she said.

Reflecting on her prolonged absence from work, the actress said she had not shot for around nine months because of her illness.

“I haven’t shot for around nine months because I was ill. I still am, but my condition was worse then. I am much better now. I am making this decision after giving it careful thought,” she said.

Tania also acknowledged the support she has received from fans throughout her illness.

“I want to do what the people who love me, support me and wait for me want to see me do. If so many people want me to return, then I definitely will,” she said.

Towards the end of the live session, Tania thanked those who had prayed for her, checked on her health and waited for her return to acting.

Meanwhile, Tania has the film ‘Tribunal’ awaiting completion. Directed by Raihan Khan, the film also stars Tariq Anam Khan, Saberi Alam, Moushumi Hamid, Saira Akter Jahan, Ador Azad, Shahed Ali, Milon Bhattacharya, Ashok Byapari, Rakib Hossain Evon and Upoma.
