Veteran Bangladeshi actor Sohel Rana has expressed frustration over comments on India circulating on social media, criticising remarks by several women and referring to political figures from the National Citizen Party (NCP) and Jamaat-e-Islami in a Facebook post on October 9.
In the post, Rana said he was finding some recent comments difficult to tolerate.
“We all know how to use abusive language, but we refrain from doing so out of politeness and civility. But the language some women have suddenly started using about India lately is beyond the limits of tolerance,” he wrote.
The actor also referred to NCP and Jamaat leaders and made a sarcastic remark about a teacher’s statement. However, he did not provide further details about the specific comments or statements that prompted his criticism.
Rana also suggested that he might temporarily step away from Facebook, saying he wanted to spend some time offline.
“I am thinking of retiring from Facebook. Perhaps I will disappear for a while. When I remember some good friends again, I will return. I apologise if anyone feels hurt. Please forgive me,” he wrote.
Although his post suggested the possibility of a temporary break, Rana did not specify how long he might stay away or confirm that he had made a final decision to leave the platform.
