Chiranjit Biswas wins international acting award for Delupi

Waadaa Desk

Bangladeshi actor Chiranjit Biswas has won the Best Male Actor award at the 21st Tasveer Film Festival in Seattle, US, for his performance in Delupi, with director Mohammad Touqir Islam accepting the award on his behalf at the festival’s closing ceremony on October 18.

According to a press release, Islam travelled to the United States to attend the festival and receive the award.

Tasveer Film Festival is described as the world’s only Oscar-qualifying South Asian film festival. Delupi was the only Bangladeshi film selected for this year’s lineup, making Biswas’s win a notable achievement for the country’s film industry.

The film is also set to compete in the main competition sections of two international festivals on October 24: the 39th Virginia Film Festival in the United States and the London Bridge Film Festival in the United Kingdom.

Produced by Footprint Film Production, Delupi draws inspiration from the collapse of a flood embankment in the Khulna region and the political turmoil that gripped Bangladesh in 2024.

Released in Bangladeshi cinemas in 2025, the film has since screened at several international festivals, including the International Film Festival Rotterdam in the Netherlands and Karawan Film Fest in Italy.
