‘All my love to Bangladesh’: Argentina’s Martinez

Argentina’s goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez left a special message for Bangladeshi fans after their 3-1 victory over Jordan in Dallas on Sunday.

Martinez, who had visited Bangladesh in 2023, months after Argentina’s FIFA World Cup win in Qatar, has firsthand experienced Bangladesh’s love for the Argentine football team.

On Sunday, he was about to exit the mixed zone – where players interact with the media – after the Jordan match when he heard the word Bangladesh.

“Oh, Bangladesh… I like Bangladesh,” said Martinez as he came back to face the camera.

Bangladeshi sports journalist Rana Abbas then asked him if he had a message for Bangladeshi fans.

“I love the fans, I’ve been there. I really love the country,” he responded.

“I know how crazy they are for us. I had the experience to be there. I love their support. They’re Argentinians in some way. All my love to Bangladesh,” he concluded.

Bangladesh’s love for Argentina is now well known in the South American country since the Qatar World Cup.

The Argentines are in pursuit of a consecutive World Cup triumph and will next be up against Cape Verde in the Round of 32 on July 4.
