Just days after Argentine goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez acknowledged Bangladeshi fans after a match, Brazil’s goalkeeper Alisson Becker also thanked Bangladeshi Selecao supporters for their love following their win over Japan in the Round of 32.
Brazil came from behind to pull off a 2-1 win over Japan on Monday in Houston to book their place in the Round of 16.
After the match, Alisson was on his way out of the mixed zone – where players interact with the media post-match – when he heard Bangladeshi journalists from T Sports calling out to him, saying they were from Bangladesh.
“Oh, nice!” Alisson turned around and responded, just as Martinez had done a few days back.
“Thank you Bangladesh for supporting us. I’ve seen some videos, really nice. Thank you so much,” he said.
“Yes, I’ve seen a few [videos of Bangladeshi fans celebrating Brazil wins]. I want to say thank you to all people from Bangladesh. We Brazilians love you as well. Thank you for this love you are showing for us and God bless you,” he added.
During the World Cup, Bangladesh’s Brazil fandom has made its presence known to the South American country through social media.
Recently on Instagram, Neymar had reacted to a viral video of Bangladeshi Brazil fans chanting his name during a World Cup screening at the Daffodil University campus in Dhaka.
Brazil fans are holding out hope that this will be the year they complete ‘Mission Hexa’. For that, they will next have to face the winner of the Norway- Ivory Coast match in the Round of 16.
