The Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) on Monday announced the national women's team squad for the 20th Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, running September 19 to October 4.
Uncapped defender Arpita Biswas earns a first call-up. She was part of the squad for May's SAFF Championship in Goa, India, but did not feature in any match.
Midfielder Munki Akter returns to the national fold for the Games, alongside defenders Irene Khatun and Nabiron Khatun. Surma Jannat, Halima Akter, Umhela Marma and Sourabhi Akondo, all part of the last SAFF squad, miss out this time.
Bangladesh face a tough group in South Korea, North Korea and Myanmar, opening their campaign against North Korea on September 14, the opening day of the women’s football event.
The team leaves for China on Monday night for two preparatory friendlies against Guangzhou FC on September 7 and 10.
