Cavan Sullivan, the Philadelphia Union sensation whose mother's family traces its roots to Dhaka, continues rewriting Major League Soccer (MLS) record books.

At just 16, the American youth international has etched his name into the league's history by becoming the youngest player to record a goal contribution in five consecutive matches.

Sullivan scored for the third straight game on Sunday as Philadelphia beat CF Montreal 2-0.

His fourth goal of the season took his tally to 11 goal contributions overall, four goals and seven assists, surpassing Freddy Adu's 2005 mark for the most by a 16-year-old in MLS history.

In the match, Danley Jean Jacques opened the scoring in the 57th minute before Sullivan sealed it 18 minutes later, pouncing after Milan Iloski's effort was saved by goalkeeper Sébastien Breza.

"I was in the box and that's where things happen," Sullivan said afterwards.

The landmark arrived as the Union's turnaround gathered pace. Philadelphia extended their unbeaten run to eight matches, climbing into an Audi MLS Cup Playoff spot for the first time this season.

"Coming off that terrible first part of the year, where we felt like we couldn't get any points, and now it's eight unbeaten," Sullivan said. "It wasn't pretty, but winning ugly is huge."
