France withdraws support for FIFA president Infantino, reports suggest

Reuters

The French football federation (FFF) is withdrawing support for Gianni Infantino's reelection bid as head of FIFA next year, Le Monde reported on Thursday, citing a source close to the matter.

Infantino, who is seeking another term as FIFA president, has faced criticism over his handling of the Folarin Balogun red-card case at the World Cup and other governance concerns.

The FFF did not confirm the report, saying its executive committee's meeting on the topic was not yet over.
