Bangladesh's women's hockey team secured their first point of the Asian Games, coming from behind twice to draw 3-3 with Kazakhstan in their fourth Pool A fixture at Kawasaki Juko Stadium in Japan on Friday.

The result marked a significant turnaround for a side that had endured three heavy defeats in their opening matches, having lost 13-0 to China, 3-1 to Malaysia, and 8-0 to South Korea in their previous outings before Friday's contest.

Bangladesh made a dream start against Kazakhstan, with Irene Riya scoring from a penalty corner just 71 seconds into the match to give the side an early lead heading into the opening break.

Kazakhstan responded in the second quarter, with Victoria Lobanova equalising six minutes into the period as the opposition gradually began asserting greater control over proceedings on the field.

The turning point came after half time, when Kazakhstan pulled ahead through Lobanova's second goal, before she completed her hat trick in the 37th minute to put the Central Asian side firmly in front at 3-1.

Bangladesh, however, refused to fold under pressure. Kona Akter pulled a goal back just three minutes later, before Arpita Pal levelled matters entirely in the final quarter to secure a share of the spoils at 3-3.
